There is a LOT of hype in AI right now and speculation of what it can and cannot do.
I'm currently prototyping pretty awesome stuff at work and the really exciting stuff is in discovering new interfaces: My mental model for both GPT and image models is that they act as 0 marginal cost incompetent helpers.

They results are mixed and you can get a lot of them very fast. This is not always helpful.

Are we are talking about helping creators earn a living without sacrificing creating freedom?
Oh boy, that is something I know quite a lot about!

Let me share how we built this infrastructure on Tumblr and how we run a marketplace on top of App Store👇 Tumblr currently allows you to:
- Subscribe to your creators in exchange for subscriber-only content (this is called Post+)
- Tip your favorite creators

The way it works under the hood is probably the craziest thing I ever built:

I wrote a bunch of scripts to import everything to my @logseq, and it is glorious.
I have an overview of every day, including today.
It prevents me from opening a bunch of apps to check notifications and puts me in a more proactive frame of mind.

Here is what syncs hourly: - All my google cal events -1 / +1 year
- All birthdays
- Google Docs Notes from my Zoom Calls
- Notifications from work
- All my blog posts
- Github Boards
- IFTTT/Zapier content

All linked to the daily page, searchable and offline.

The sorry state of international travel 🛫 💔 😞 🛬
We just managed to return from our meetup in Canada. Out of 14 people:
- 2 of us were shuffled around airports due to 22+ hrs delays
- another 3 of us ended up delayed 6+ hrs.
- Another 2 of us never managed to arrive. If you are about to travel internationally:

- Please avoid flying with a child until airlines ramp up again.
- Carry-on helps A LOT. My delay would be longer than 22 hrs if I had to deal with luggage.
- ALWAYS pack a change of clothes
- Pick longer connections

Want to add solar panels to your RV / tiny house / boat?
This is a thread for you.
I’m DIYing that installation, and documenting it here. Image What do you need:
1. A battery (NOT the car one, RV has a second 'hotel' battery)
2. Panels (more about that in a bit)
3. Charge controller ( MPPT or PWM one )
4. Wires + fuses
5. A way to attach all that

📱🧵 I got an iPhone 11pro this week. These are my small little hacks & tweaks 👇 Siri is dumber than Google Assistant, but 300% more reliable. I prefer it that way. My fav Siri spell for now:
"Hey Siri, Make a note in Evernote" -> later dictate it

We're all gonna age 👴👵.
- 👁 We will have eyesight issues
- ❓ We will get confused by new concepts
- ✋ Our motor skills will be worse

Let's make tech a little kinder for our future selves, please 🙏 My grandpa is almost 90, has eyesight issues and I'm always hoping new tech can help him.
Inevitably, I am dissapointed.
New apps and interfaces are made by 22-y/o in Silicon Valley without real understanding of the issues of elderly

For #remote workers, headphones are kind of a huge deal.
When your best social interaction happens on calls, you want it to be smooth. When you have a crappy microphone, you sound 47% less professional.
I made this stat up so I can justify my headphone addiction. It's important to note that I'm NOT an audiophile. Sound quality on my end is the least important factor.
What I am is fussy when it comes to convenience. I want the headphones to be comfortable!
This thread is to prove to myself that I DON'T NEED TO BUY THE AIRPODS PRO.

I have started to build an alternative, visual interface for my @evernote notes.
I have about 3800 quality observations. There are layers of connections that can spark new insights between them.
So, in a true Artur fashion, I have kicked off my yearly review by building an app. @evernote What @RoamResearch ( roamresearch.com ) is doing looks great, but Roam itself lacks certain features that are essential to me - mainly offline.

John Locke had quite a system for note taking. In 1689 he had the same problem we have now : dealing with information overload and working through the limitations of his memory

I do think that expanding working memory through notes is an easy win.

pocket.co/xdqYfJ Locke was @fortelabs of the 17th century. He built his second brain and released an essay called 'New Method of Organizing Common Place Books' Image

I am an @evernote 📗 🐘 junkie. I've ported half of my life into the platform, have written white papers about Evernote and switched phones because of how they worked with the app.
This is an ongoing thread with hacks that I use 👇 🧵 @evernote "Why Evernote"
1. LOCAL first, cloud second - I can use it offline. A rare gem nowadays.
2. It has been here for a while, so I can depend on it
3. Integrations with everything under the sun
4. Built-in OCR so I can search scanned stuff
5. My life is already there

I am taking @david_perell 's Write Of Passage course about writing online. This is an ongoing thread with my experience 🧵👇

writeofpassage.school @david_perell Unlike many online courses I’ve taken, this one focuses HEAVILY on the community and making friends. I thought these were the usual promises, but we have 2-3 Zoom calls per week, forum and opportunities to collaborate. This was a very pleasant surprise!
