On the two years anniversary of elections 2018, it merits some attention as to about what PTI promised vs. what it delivered; what it claims vs. what is the ground reality.
Since everything can't be incorporated in one thread, so I will just focus on economic indicators. /1
PTI came to power in 2018 on the back of accusations that PMLN has ruined Pakistan's economy and they'll fix it. In one year or so, country's annual GDP growth rate went from 5.8% to 1% (2019). -- Source: World Bank

Pakistan's federal government and their supporters appear to be very happy on the declining number of #COVID19 cases, and are terming it a success.
However, the celebrations might be a bit premature since their interpretation of data is misleading. /1
Notice the sharp decline in testing numbers since end June. That's the primary reason for the decline in positive cases being reported. /2

Watched Zafar Mirza's interview last night. @OwaisTohid asked some very pertinent questions but the answers by health minister didn't inspire much confidence.
Here he talks about curve flattening in five months. Seriously misleading. Curve doesn't flatten on it's own. /1
You can predict peak only when you have taken the necessary steps (lockdown, aggressive testing, and contact tracing etc.)
Pakistan has slackened on these steps. hence the peak projection keeps shifting from one month to the other. /2 washingtonpost.com/graphics/2020/…

Last few days have not been so good for the #tabdeeli household.
It seems the cheerleaders for tabdeeli are having panic attacks one after the other after seeing some great "kaptaani" in response to COVID-19.
A short thread. /1
Here is Orya Maqbool Jan resigning to the fact that incompetence has perhaps become more fatal than corruption.
He also has something to say about our "sadiq & ameen" PM. /2

This was federal health advisor almost three weeks ago (mind you doctors were screaming that govt. is not being honest).
How can they now blame the public for taking it easy?
and this was chairman NDMA two weeks ago.

IK again used U.S. as a benchmark to justify no lockdown and assure people that Pakistan's numbers are low in comparison.
This is a thread for some basic fact-checking. /1
U.S. has conducted 21.3 million tests & 1.98 million positive cases (9.2% of total).
Pakistan has only tested 705k so far & 103k have been positive (14.6% of total).
During last few days, ~ 25% of daily tests are positive in Pakistan. But testing is low & numbers misleading.
