The Mughals could never spread their empire in North East India. And one man who instrumental in ensuring this was Lachit Borphukan. He was a Commander in the Ahom Kingdom (present day Assam), who thwarted the Mughal attack in the Battle of Saraighat 1/n Although weaker, the Ahom Army defeated the Mughal Army by brilliant uses of the terrain, clever diplomatic negotiations to buy time, guerrilla tactics, psychological warfare, military intelligence and by exploiting the sole weakness of the Mughal forces—its navy. 2/n
