1990s Era Sierra Leonean Military Officers Who Trained In Nigeria

In recent narratives about ECOMOG and indeed earlier, you probably heard one mention the fact that the former Sierra Leonean President, General Joseph Momoh was a NMTC Course 6 mate of Generals IBB + Abacha in 1962

In 1992, a group of fifteen Sierra Leonean cadets arrived to be trained alongside an array of Nigerian professionals who hold direct regular commissions today.

That group, alongside the 40th RC cadets, earned their commissions on 25 Sept 1993.

Yours truly was on the spot.

Major General Kamaldeen Kadiri

Might not be very much in the public eye but he is surely one of the seniormost officers of the Nigerian Army

Dunno the RC cohort to which he even belongs but the former Commander of the Corps of Engineers is a very senior officer

Check this >>>
At this time, Kadiri serves as the pioneer Director General of Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Giri, Abuja.

It boggles the mind surely that his deputy - designated as Provost of the Centre is a RC 37 course mate of the COAS no less, Maj Gen Victor Ezugwu

We must learn to plug capability gaps once and for all..in one hop - like our Algerian and Egyptian neighbours do.

Just For Clarity

The 46 metre Chinese-built patrol vessel (right) donated on 28 October 2022 is the EXACT replica of NNS Sagbama (left) which the Chinese donated in 2015 - both Modified Type 062 Shanghai III types.

It is INCORRECT to describe NNS Sagbama as a 38 metre vessel ImageImage The confusion might stem from the fact that the more popular Type 062 Shanghai II patrol vessels were 38 metre platforms.

These two evolved Type 062 III in Nigerian naval service are however larger and shaped differently, resembling the Damen Stan 4207 design.

POINT TO PONDER

Discountenancing the objective of liberating comrades, WHAT IF ISWAP struck in faraway Kainji, so as to bolster their position in the face of withering fortunes in the NW?

Are ISWAP looking towards synergy with ISGS, active 200 miles away in Niger+Burkina Faso? I STRONGLY believe that AQIM affiliated active on our borders in Benin Republic ultimately aim to bolster ANSARU’s position in Nigeria and believe that ISWAP’s westward drift aims as much to free comrades as it hopes to kickstart operational collaboration with ISGS
