we're in an intense phase on Thirsty Suitors atm & a game I play which has been working well is "if I haven't finished my tasks for today & am making no progress, I'll make a delicious meal". a reward for "failure" & also I have food for tomorrow when I need to do extra work it's made the process so much healthier for me, as someone who has historically ruined their life with work & stress. also maybe because I find cooking the best way to unwind from cognitive tasks. it's a whole different skillset, and I play bangers only while I cook

still cannot believe of all the songs it's RRR's naatu naatu going to the oscars. RRR itself is fun but let's be honest a mediocre film, and casteist besides. convinced it's big in the west bc white people want to appear to have a sense of humour about themselves as villains RRR's a film about british colonialism where white people are the villains but it's so slapstick and broad that it doesn't really sting, and so appreciating it appeals to white narcissism rather than actually challenging whiteness & coloniality

what’s the point of making art that’s mean, cynical, hopeless right now? on a personal and political level as an artist in this moment i’d prefer to be cringily sincere rather than cleverly nihilistic

It's perfectly fine to change your mind, learn and grow @mikeBithell but I think a few people are owed apologies and you need to do some self reflection + acknowledgement before giving the rest of the industry advice on how to deal with abusers. Maybe listen instead of speak.
