Despite public perceptions that AsianAms oppose affirmative action, @AAPIData found 70% of AsianAms FAVOR affirmative action.

But 1 group stands apart in opposition: Chinese Americans. Here are some thoughts as a Chinese American in academia (thread): At its core, affirmative action creates opportunities for communities of color (inc. AsianAms) and destabilizes white dominance in higher education. Until affirmative action, AsianAms did not have access to higher ed til the 1960s or any visible presence til the 1980s.
