I think attacks on politicians we disagree with strongly (on pretty much everything for me, in this case) have more impact if we show fairness when it’s due and I find nothing to criticise about this, and respect him for going. It was clearly appreciated. Now sort the refugees. The fact so many thought Kyiv would be in 🇷🇺 hands by now and questioned whether the Ukrainian President would even be alive, shows the power of these images, two democratically elected leaders walking a bombed city. The message to Russia is huge, as is the boost to Ukrainians.

This is becoming ridiculous now. She’s going back to India, yet they’ve both declared America as their permanent home. All whilst avoiding tax whilst living in a taxpayer funded London residence and telling others to pay more of it. This should be the end of it, but won’t be. Another fabulous compendium of Tory farce from @RussInCheshire 😂🤦🏻‍♂️😱

Dear @O2 can you explain why I've been on hold for 37 minutes just so I can give you some money? It's absolutely appalling. Now I've been transferred it's just ringing and ringing. Please sort yourselves out if you want custom. Automated security, then one someone eventually bothered to answer, whole process again. Now 42 minutes, just ringing. All for something you can't do online, but should be able to. Please DM me @O2 and sort it out asap, I don't have a whole day to waste on your incompetence.

I’m going to try one last time.

Could a #Brexit fan PLEASE list, 6 years after the vote, some quantifiable, hard, economic benefits of Brexit - not vague statements about ‘freedom from Brussels’ and ‘sovereignty’ - actual economic benefits, backed by facts.

Just 2 or 3.

Go! Some brilliant replies so far, even though they are obviously in no way answering the question.

Many congratulations to the government on wrecking Channel 4, which was until today the only decent thing they hadn’t completely ruined through venality and incompetence that was still standing.

We are becoming Orban’s Hungary in all but name.

Tories kill anything good. At least she knows exactly what she’s doing. 👌

Global Britain. 🇬🇧 I’ve noticed a lot of senior Tories are excruciatingly uncomfortable in international environments. It’s what happens when your horizons are limited and you believe only in an insular, inward looking, globally naive political philosophy. They don’t have a clue how 🇬🇧 is seen.

Johnson 2016:

‘The EU is like Nazi Germany - vote for Brexit’.

Johnson 2022:

‘Ukrainians being forced to move to camps in remote Russian cities after being carpet bombed are just like Brexit voters’.

The man is craven, has no shame, and plays to the ugliest audience. To make matters worse, he uttered this insult to Ukrainians in front of their ambassador. What a humiliation.

Thought my contempt for Johnson and his adoring army of inadequates couldn’t deepen any further after his Brexit lies, shallow anti-wokery, Trump-like tactics, covid disaster, party gate, Russian donations and all the broken pledges and empty slogans.

But today he managed it. Yes

They are literally desperate to be fast tracked into the EU. What a mind-blowingly thick comparison to make, on every level. Truly idiotic. What an absolutely disgusting PM we have.

This man is such a moral and intellectual fraud. Also, partying against the law whilst people were saying goodbye to dying relatives on FaceTime and unable to attend their subsequent funerals isn’t unserious fluff. Absolute Dickensian undertaker tosser.

This is the guy who said refugees would be fine staying in France as long as they liked garlic, soon after a boat full of them had drowned in the channel. He is vile.

Lord Frost negotiated and hailed the ‘brilliant deal’ he now says was ‘unfairly imposed on the UK’. It was a British idea. It was admittedly so bad we couldn’t even sell English sausages to Northern Ireland, but they all waved it at us with their flags for weeks on end. Sit down. This pompous empty hoover bag now says that Putin got the upper hand because Britain ‘capitulated’ to Greta Thunberg, a proposition so utterly ridiculous it could become a Spectator article, and no doubt will. How do these people even dress themselves? #idiocracy

A woman has stormed into the main evening news bulletin in Russia to tell viewers they’re being lied to. Sheer bravery.

And here is her name. She works at the station. ‘They can’t put us all in prison’, she says. A hero.

Major nerve touched, clearly. 🤦🏻‍♂️

No one says Britain isn’t generous, we believe our government is ungenerous. And that it has fostered a climate of division and xenophobia.

The rest of it is just a theatrical performance for his colleagues.

Insincere.
A calm, sober, detailed speech would have been so much more persuasive. They just don’t get it. Playing to their ever-dwindling base, the 32-34% we keep seeing in the polls.

I will never forgive anyone who makes kids like this wait a second too long for safe haven. It is time this country found its humanity. Stop waving flags, start waiving visas, and make us proud, not red with shame & rage.

Watch this until the penny drops.
These people are depraved.

#Putin wanted a weaker EU, and a broken UK.

Therefore, Putin wanted #Brexit. Putin’s coterie infiltrated every corner of Britain’s political, commercial & cultural life. Now Farage et al are ambivalent about #Ukraine️.

Join the bloody dots, it really isn’t hugely complicated. Lebedev, Murdoch, and Farage. I want my country back. #BrexitReality

🧵 Go to Google maps. Find any Russian restaurant, shop, business premises. Leave a 5 ⭐️ review, so as not to affect their business or search ranking, as this isn’t their fault. Paste the message below in Russian. It tells them what Putin is doing, evading his media censorship.👇 2/2

Было хорошо! Однако, Путин испортил нам настроение, вторгшись в Украину. Восстаньте против своего диктатора, прекратите убивать невинных людей! Ваше правительство лжет вам. Восстаньте!

Our last contribution before we stomped out of this Parliament was Ann Widdecombe and Nigel Farage smugly waving union jacks at their colleagues.

We weren’t in this room today. The shame.

These foul, depraved people. When #Brexit finally happened, this is how they treated that magnificent European Parliament we saw standing with #Zelenskyy today. Their hero Reagan called the EP the greatest tribute to peace he’d ever witnessed.
Abhorrent.

It would be bloody good to be in the EU right now, so we could actually be at the table with the other 27 countries on our doorstep, as they discuss sanctions and operational issues. Instead we have to find out what they discussed afterwards.

I will never forgive these people. Yep

A lot of people I respect disagree, but my view remains, no matter how pro EU I am, that it would be electoral suicide for Labour to campaign to rejoin, giving the flagging Tory base that has almost nothing left to rally around an excuse to rejuvenate their nationalist message.1/ People are 'tired of #Brexit' (spoiler: it has barely started) and reopening up/deepening this whole debate now has no mileage in it. Brexit cannot and will not work, and you have to time the politics correctly. We will have to rejoin incrementally, in all but name, over time 2/

Please enjoy this recently resurfaced video starring the MP that the voters of Beaconsfield chose over Dominic Grieve, and stop asking why this country is done.

Johnson has of course just appointed her as a PPS.

You’re welcome.

I really hope Nadine Dorries doesn’t now feel she needs to trump her colleague in some form to keep the PM’s attention. 😬
