I wrote this story (that Harry & Meghan had begun to pay back the £2.4m renovation cost through monthly rent) 3 years ago. BP confirmed the figure. By my calculations, H&M have NOT repaid the £2.4m they said they would; so far it’s been c£630,000…
dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8… I personally don’t care whether they pay or don’t (the house did need urgent renovation work); but it does seem rather vindictive of Charles to do this just days after Harry’s book came out. Publicly it was all ‘no comment’ but this revenge ‘eviction’ (in June) behind the scenes.

BREAKING statement from the Queen & the Sussexes. Harry & Meghan are no longer working royals, they will keep HRH but won’t use it,they’ll repay the £2.4million used to renovate Frogmore & pay rent to keep it as family home, Harry to give up all military appnts but keep charities BP can’t say whether the Sussexes can still use their “SussexRoyal” brand. They are still members of the family, the Queen makes that v clear and pays warm praise to Meghan, but if they aren’t working royals then are they royal??

Harry & Meghan released a statement that they were quitting as senior royals without telling the Queen, Charles or William. The Royal family’s response was the second statement, issued two hours later. It makes it VERY clear nothing has been decided, regardless of what H&M want. How can they “fully support HMQ” & “honour our duty to the Queen” when they didn’t even deign to tell her they were doing this...? How can they be “financially independent” whilst still accepting huge 💰from the Duchy of Cornwall, set up to support heirs to the British throne?

- Tour the newly-renovated Princess Diana Orthopaedic Centre🏥
- Attend a reception at British Ambassador @JessicaHandFCO’s residence in Luanda🍷

- Meghan & Harry will visit Archbishop & Mrs Tutu at their foundation ⛪️
- Harry then departs for Botswana🐘

- Harry & Meghan will first visit Monwabisi Beach to see work of @WavesForChange, @TheLunchboxFund & #SeaChangeProject which started from a small van 9 yrs ago & now helps 1,200 kids with their mental health. 🏄🏽‍♀️ 🏄🏼‍♂️ 🌊 - Harry joins @SAPoliceService Maritime Unit as Captain General @RoyalMarines on 🚤 to Seal Island
- Both will meet multi-faith leaders at @AuwalMasjid Mosque🕌

- Reception @NigelCaseyHC residence where H&M staying (will we see Archie?!)👶🏼

Harry, Meghan & baby Archie are due to touch down in Cape Town to begin their Southern Africa tour in a couple of hours! There’s no official welcome at the airport, so we’ll see them first at a township around 1.30pm local time. 🇿🇦#sussexroyaltour Day 1 will see #Harry & #Meghan visit a Cape Town township for a workshop that teaches kids about their safety, particularly self-defence & empowerment to girls. Then they’ll visit District Six, where 60,000 were forcibly removed in Apartheid, museum, centre & community cooking.
