I am amused, though not surprised by this tweet of Mr @Jairam_Ramesh. Since he talks about sniffing REAL history, let me oblige.

Partition may have happened in 1947, but the Congress accepted the principle of Partition in 1942. Sounds shocking and unreal? Read on. [1/n] Partition of India was accepted by Congress in 1942 in response to Cripps proposals. CWC resolution of 10 April 1942: "[CW] Committee cannot think of compelling the people in any territorial unit to remain in an Indian Union against their declared and established will." [2/n]

Big breaking news! New documents in Taiwan archives point to the fact that #Netaji didn’t die in any plane crash.

An investigation report by the Taiwan Police Dept, unearthed by @SauravDangar clearly states that it failed to prove that #Netaji died in the plane crash. @anujdhar Surprisingly, this report was never brought to the notice of the 3 official inquiries by the Govt of India. Another report by Taiwan’s health department done in the same year also reached similar conclusions.

Stray thoughts on #Gyanvapi developments
1. Destruction of property, including temples, was a routine matter in an invasion in the olden days. Temples were destroyed either to proclaim the supremacy of one religion or to destroy and subjugate a place and its people. [1/n] 2. The invasion of the Turks, Afghans and the Moghuls obviously had a religious overtone and temples/monastaries were destroyed to proclaim the supremacy of Islam. There But that is history, something that cannot be changed. That was the spirit of the age. [2/n] #Gyanvapi

When Bengali ladies stood up to the Mahatma.

The Mahatma wrote in Harijan of 31 Dec 1938:
I have a fear that the modern girl loves to be Juliet to half a dozen Romeos. She loves adventure. The modern girl dresses not to protect herself from wind, rain and sun [1/n]
@anujdhar but to attract attention. She improves upon nature by painting herself and looking extraordinary. The non-violent way is not for such girls. Those who have not a living faith in non-violence will learn the art of ordinary self-defence and protect themselves [2/n]
