GET THIS: When Elizabeth “cried out in a loud voice” greeting Mary (Luke 1:42), the Greek form of “cried” here is rare in biblical text, only used describing crying out in the presence of the ark of the covenant.
And Mary is the new ark of the covenant.
Our faith is so cool.
It gets cooler.
Elizabeth asks “who am I that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (Luke 1:43) when the new ark (Mary, carrying the child Jesus in her womb) comes to her.
When the ark comes to David, he asks, “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?” (2 Samuel 6:9)
