10/ First 9 climbs are paved dead-ends. A major reason why never in Tour. Next climb is a through road but perhaps a touch narrow. But truly astounding.
Col de la Machine via Combe Laval. (just have the publicity caravan bypass the climb!) Details: cycling-challenge.com/combe-laval-co… 11/ Back to the Pyrénées. Cirque de Troumouse (2100m). Starts in extension of valley between Tourmalet and Aubisque. Just 15 metres lower than Tourmalet, this cirque is breathtakingly beautiful.

1/ Just for fun: The best cycling climbs to NEVER appear in the Tour de France (must be paved and in France). Col de la Moutière (2454 metres): Turn off on south side of Cime de la Bonette. Quiet, high, lovely.

(please suggest your favourite) 2/ Lac Cap de Long (2161m): Higher than nearby Col du Tourmalet, it is the final dam/lake on the beautiful Route des Lacs. Easily my favourite climb in the Pyrénées. Possible Tour excluded for environmental reasons (to protect it from "us"). Details: cycling-challenge.com/lac-de-cap-de-…

1/ Just for fun: A list of amazing cycling climbs that include some sort of "special" tunnel experience. (I am a tunnel coward, but occasionally fight my fears and have pedaled through some crazy places)
#cycling #tunnels 2/ Formerly the highest road in France. The route du Parpaillon was built between 1891 and 1911 by the French military to link the Ubaye and Embrun valleys. The high point of the road is the TUNNEL – 520 metres long – at 2643 metres, one metre higher than Galibier.

1/ Just for fun, I am going to list some of my favourite cycling climbs for hairpin lovers: first has to be the old cobble Tremola road up the south side of Gotthard Pass (Switzerland) #cycling #hairpins (3rd photo angle taken from inside the galleria tunnel of main road). 2/ The amazing 46 hairpins up to Col de Tende (French side, Italian name is Colle di tenda). Also, great unpaved military ridge roads above --- first photo taken from an old fort.
