Last month, a @conflictarm field investigation team documented the contents of three Russian Lancet loitering munitions recovered by Ukrainian forces in early 2023. Several of the chips we documented then were interesting, but one stood out 1/9 Image We have been documenting and tracing chips found in Russian and Iranian weapons for almost a year now, and found that most had been made between 2014 and 2021, suggesting efforts to stockpile foreign technology to build resilience against sanctions. 2/9 storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/239f75…

In early November 2022, a @conflictarm team had access to 1x Shahed-131, 2x Shahed-136, and 1x Mohajer-6 UAVs used by Russia in Ukraine. Here’s what we found in them: storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/7a3941… Through visual comparison with four other UAV models documented in 2017-2022 in the Middle East, @conflictarm confirms that the Shahed-131, Shahed-136 and Mohajer-6 UAVs used by Russia in Ukraine were made in Iran.
