I present you "Reading Scientific Publications 101" Just as a small preamble, I was taught this on a course about Evidence Based Medicine back on my medical student days and adapted it to my current circumstances.

I've just used it recently on a technology research subject and the results are consistent with my medical research.

I need the collective wisdom of the internet. I’ve just rescued this pigeon from the street. Apparently he was attacked by a cat. I’m leaving him quiet in a box so he can recover from the shock (I’m following some guidelines I found on the net). He doesn’t seem to have anything broken nor any profound injuries. I’m just wondering if there is anything else I should be doing. Like should I clean his injury now (with water only) or let it be? If you know any vets and could tag them here I would appreciate.

I just realized how after my brother died I have no one to show me anime snippets to get excited about then and binge watch then later. We did this every weekend before I got in medical school... I wish I had more quality time with him. I remember we getting together and I would show my discoveries of the week and he would show his. My biggest discovery was Juuousei... we both thought it was going to be horrible because of the description but I took the change and it was actually a masterpiece.

Para quem acompanhou meu “crowdsourcing de terapia”, eu estou um pouco melhor hoje. Conversei com pessoas que me ajudaram bastante essa semana e inclusive comecei terapia de verdade que foi bem útil. Ainda estou me sentindo sozinha, mas estou tentando lidar com isso. Por sorte meu trabalho está pegando um ritmo mais acelerado e isso está me ajudando a me sentir mais produtiva.

Sobre sair do Brasil. Hoje conversei com uma pessoa que me deu um insight muito importante e estou mais confiante de que eu fiz a escolha certa. Ele me lembrou da pirâmide de Maslow. Os motivos que me levaram a sair estavam intimamente ligados com a base da pirâmide. Eu não me sentia segura no Brasil. Eu não tinha qualidade de vida.

Estou chegando a conclusão que não foi uma boa ideia ter saído do Brasil... Faz um ano e meio que eu estou aqui e não tenho uma amizade... todo mundo que eu conheço aqui é ocupado demais

Blockers 101: a thread

Have you ever got the feeling that the problem is not you? Pretty rare right? Because usually we, as "normally functioning" human beings under stress tend to blame ourselves for not being able to do stuff. But there is such a thing as blockers... people who will do everything to make your life miserable, or will not do anything to make your life better... whatever comes first. Add some prejudice to the mix and you have a very explosive recipe.

Reverse interview 101: a thread.

This is something I’ve been thinking for a while. Most people, especially in the beginning of their careers, are very concerned about saying the right things so they get selected, but don't really consider they may be joining the wrong company. It was only recently in my career (of 16+ years) that I’ve learned how to ask the right questions to filter unwanted “opportunities”. While it is important to show your work, I’m equally concerned about potential red flags.

You may or may not have noticed I haven’t been posting anything for a while. I disabled all notifications on my phone and deinstalled all social network apps. I somehow got stuck in a notification loop and I wasn’t able to do anything useful because I was always waiting... ... for the next red icon, bell, email or whatever. The only way I’ve managed to regain control of my life was to disable it all.

I’m impressed how much more focused I am now, but nowhere close to my personal best. It’s work in progress.

I’m talking more explicitly about the constant effort to kick the T out of LGBT, and the whole discussion about what kind of T is acceptable. The war of TERFs vs trans lesbians as well. This shit is so tiresome... why can’t people just accept people ARE different and respect that

I believe this game is considered a parallel universe to the original one, and the whole thing about defeating the whispers is to allow the history to change. This could explain Cloud’s visions of stuff that didn’t happen yet, including Aerith’s death scene (which only appears for a second, but seeing that materia bouncing makes me cry instantly)
