Excellent discussion by @MattiFriedman on what is truly going on behind the debate on the Supreme Court. Friedman speaks to some of the discussion I've had with @EVKontorovich (v. generous on his part). The question is not narrowly legal: it's *this* coalition, at *this* time. Friedman is excellent. The very fact that Netanyahu would instrumentalize Ben Gvir-type fringe politicians--breaking with decade-long traditions of responsibility-- means that precisely this parliament, and precisely this PM, requires correction and constraint from courts.

This is not unique: think Good Friday Agreements & Lebanese Taif Accords. A brief #thread🧵 1. First bit of context necessary is the 1994 Washington Agreement.
