Medicare Advantage (MA) is a total scam. It’s certainly not an advantage and would be more accurately called Medicare DISadvantage. It’s crazy to me that now over 50% of Medicare enrollees have switched over to Medicare Advantage plans run by profit seeking BUCAs.

medpagetoday.com/special-report… Every surgeon I know has been crushed with time consuming and bandwidth sucking peer to peers and unjustified denials for their Medicare Advantage patients leading to delays in care.

Physicians, don’t let them devalue you! - a thead 👇

I see many younger doctors around me with a look of quiet desperation in their eyes. They love their patients but the system is crushing them.

On surprise billing, health policy wonks at Yale have lots of explaining to do

Wonks were writing studies blaming doctors for “surprise” bills but what they didn’t reveal was how “if the paper did not suit the United execs liking, they could oppose its publication”😬

Disgusting From one wonk to another: “Suggesting what you should say in the paper, I would say that’s not normal” -Mr Loren Adler Image

THREAD - Why does surgeon, editor in chief @medpagetoday Dr Marty Makary @MartyMakary want a “surprise billing” fix HORRIBLE for patients that boosts insurer profits?? 🤷‍♂️

He wants benchmarking which will be death blow for independent practice in 🇺🇸

1/x Looks like a nice pro patient article at first glance

“Now is the Time to Address Surprise Billing”

Not sure why he would tag billionaire John Arnold in this tweet too. Maybe Dr Makary would care to explain...

Let’s dig a little deeper shall we?

Loren’s Schaeffer Initiatives for Health Policy has pumped out “academic” studies to back up insurer goals to increase profits by lowering physician pay

Why this matters to pts and doctors?
