Today’s update. An even 600 new cases. Hospitalizations have now more than tripled in the past month and are up 30% in the past week. The statistical risk difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated people keeps increasing. Now if you’re unvaccinated, you’re 33 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 than someone your age who’s vaccinated.

Today’s update. Status quo all around. 31,527 vaccines administered yesterday, a new one-day record.

Also Quebec did indeed receive its Moderna shipment this week, for a total of 310,120 doses received this week, which has allowed the government to accelerate administration, particularly outside Montreal.

Today, Dec. 6, we copy-paste a list of 14 names of women killed because they were women, and we say "never forget" as if we can save their memories even though we don't actually remember anything about them. But besides fighting for gun control, better mental health care, and an end to sexism and misogyny, there isn't much we can do. We can't bring them back to life. The best we can do is prevent the next woman from having her life taken away.

Today’s update. Second-largest increase in cases since May. Number of active cases increases 9% in one day. Hospitalizations continue to increase. Image One clarification about this chart, because I’ve seen many people look at the column on the right, see the numbers add up and assume it means that of 582 new cases, only 324 are active. That’s not how the math works.

Why is Quebec against a tracing app? Here’s a clue: In a 77-page report, its science and technology ethics commission studied the issue in detail but failed to recommend that the government should use such an app ethique.gouv.qc.ca/media/1372/ces… In August, Quebec’s National Assembly held three days of parliamentary hearings into tracing apps, hearing from a bunch of experts. The takeaway seemed negative because of mostly unfounded privacy concerns. ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/17262…
