Some of the most prominent masculinity experts are co-opting and appropriating Black women’s feminist scholarship and it’s disgusting. The only reason these guys are able to talk critically about their gender and masculinity is Black women. And most of them don’t even bother to connect their work to the activism that these women literally risked their lives to do.

This ridiculous image is what we get when our analysis of boys and men erases the feminist scholarship of women, primarily black women, that came before it. The image suggest that the empowerment of girls comes off the backs of boys and men, which isn’t reflected in reality or any of the data.

Guns now kill more preschoolers than law enforcement officers in the line of duty.

Children don’t have a powerful lobby. They only have us to remove the adults in charge who are committed to endangering them. Every 32 minutes a child is injured by a gun the US.

Female athletes normalizing the idea that a mental health injury requires the same recovery as a physical injury is precisely why women are needed in every single part of our society. The amount of people who are angry at these female athletes for simply asserting their boundaries shows us just how much healing we have left to do.

We pay attention to gender when it’s a female terrorist, but there’s not the same curiosity when it comes to men, because we omit that they have a gender too.
