I promised a one-stop compilation of everything @fijnigeria and I wrote on Customs in six weeks.

From the trailer of ‘Undercover As a Smuggler’, to my final-day tweets on the smuggled SUVs, this thread documents almost everything I said about Customs, smuggling and gun-running👇 2. February 21. The multimedia investigation on how I smuggled 100 bags of rice from Benin Republic into Nigeria, and how Customs bosses took bribes from smugglers, then betrayed their colleagues by updating smugglers on the itinerary of patrol officers.

The dispute (and hoopla) over Tinubu’s studentship of Chicago State University was always unnecessary. From inference, I always knew he studied there.

While I was in the US last year, I made a stopover at the Richard J. Daley College in Chicago, where I physically... — and subsequently, electronically — confirmed he was their student. It is easier to manufacture studentship of the college than the university’s itself.

The documentary is out!

WATCH the 19-month-long investigation exposing how Arrows of God, one of Nigeria’s biggest orphanage homes, uses its Lagos headquarters as a smokescreen for attracting the rich before diverting them to the East where they can trade babies for cash. This they do with the collusion of the police, the judiciary and the Ministry of Women Affairs, Awka, Anambra State.

In their own astonishing ways, the three leading candidates to become Nigeria’s next senate president are all emblematic of the country’s leadership crisis. Look at President Tinubu’s anointed, Godswill Akpabio, a man whose infrastructural projects as Akwa-Ibom governor are only a smokescreen for the humongous corruption of his administration.

However it is examined, the abrupt removal of petrol subsidy is irresponsible leadership.

Yes, we can all agree that dubious subsidy payments, as have been happening, cannot continue. There can only be three solutions. One is to clean up the corruption in the process, thereby making the payments benefit the real people who need them; but this option is some work for the government.

Hi @olawaleayilara. To the public, you are Olawale Ayilara. But you and I know that your ‘real’ name is ‘Emmanuel Ademola Ayilara’.🙂

By now, you and @LandWeyNG must have received the pre-action notice from @fijnigeria’s lawyers. This is the day that the Lord has made.
1/8 You see, the fire you started is only seven days away from swirling into an inferno.

I hope your advisors who egged you on to take down our website and then try a second time, albeit unsuccessfully, are preparing your defence in court.

In this thread, I'll be posting screenshots of my conversations with different cadres of civil servants who've been asked by their bosses to present their PVCs as part of Sanwo-Olu's desperate re-election measures.

Ifalade Oyekan, the "self-proclaimed" GM of LSNSA, over to you🙏 1. My previous LNSC post was sent to a workers' union WhatsApp platform.

As a matter of fact, there's a follow-up message (Screenshot 2).

It may have been unexpected, but I’m not entirely surprised by the veiled threats of Reverend Tosho Oshoffa, the head of the international headquarters of the celestial Church of God...

1/8
...asking me in one breath to seek forgiveness from God but saying in another that there will be no forgiveness. Or saying there will be consequences and vengeance because I tarnished the name of God and the Celestial Church.

I heard some people are boiling because I said Peter Obi is "one of them".

Of course, he is.

Have you forgotten so soon?

As of May, just less than six months ago, he was a high-ranking member of the PDP...

1/9
...one of the twin evils, alongside APC, to have held this country by the jugular for several years.

If he saw any chance of securing the PDP's presidential ticket, he would 100% be in that party today!

Some of you remember six months ago for the military raid on #EndSARS protesters in Lekki. I do too. But the bigger personal significance for me: this was the night I drove to the den of kidnappers in Ekiti to pick up my abducted friend. A thread on insecurity in Nigeria.

1/
On Wednesday September 30, I received a call from @solafagro’s colleague Moyin. She had been summoned from Ibadan by the Police in Ekiti, and when she got there she found Sola’s car abandoned at a spot with bullet holes but no one inside.

A worker at the Living Faith Church is down with COVID-19 after attending Shiloh 2020. His wife, daughter and domestic employee are exhibiting symptoms of the virus — even their dog!

Some pastors who attended Shiloh are down with the virus too.
#fisayoscovid19series
1/7
This worker didn’t want to physically attend Shiloh, held from December 8 to 13, but had no alternative because the church made it compulsory for workers. As can be seen from internet videos, congregants mingled with one another without masks or social distancing.

Nigeria faces a huge testing problem as the 2nd COVID-19 wave hits home. In Abuja, the result of any test conducted today won’t be ready until Jan 2021. As of y/day, there were abt 7,000 samples in Abj that hadn’t been touched. NCDC urgently needs help.
#fisayoscovid19series
1/12 Some centres, such as the one at the N'Assembly, have stopped taking samples from the public, seeing that results of past tests haven't been sent by NCDC. Some have been honest by collecting but telling the owners of the samples not to expect their results until January.

In late 2018, as Managing Editor of an online newspaper, I transferred money to my reporters so they could cover a PDP governorship primary. I labelled the transaction “PDP primary”.

Not long after, my bank called me. They’d flagged the transaction & wanted me to explain it.
1/6
Meanwhile, weeks earlier, when I transferred money to my team for an APC primary and similarly labelled it “APC primary”, my bank didn’t call me.

Last week’s Ikoyi ‘prison break’ was not a premeditated jailbreak. It was prompted by corruption, exacerbated by pent-up tension among images over the burning of the Igbosere court and sealed by inmates’ desperation to escape from the chaos they’d caused.

A thread.

1/14 How it happened, a warder popularly known as ‘Pastor’ had seized a phone from an inmate in D Ward. One account has it that ‘Pastor’, who is also the Yard Master, extorted the inmate but refused to release the phone.

The 2020/21 English Premier League season, which begins tomorrow, will be won by Liverpool.

Reason? Coronavirus!

However, this time, it will be closely contested. There’ll be no repeat of last season’s 18-point gap.
1/4 Liverpool have been in the title mix for two consecutive seasons now; asking the players to have a go for the third time in a row is a huge mental challenge.

But the Reds do know that winning the league last season without the fans...

The man in the videos below — he claims to be a policeman attached to Pedro Police Station, Shomolu — today assaulted a resident of Awofodu Street, Pedro, who was spotting a dreadlocked hair. He also assaulted another and stabbed a third.
1/7 The policeman had stopped the guy in locks (first photo) and asked him to identify himself.

He explained that he is a dancer/actor with Segun Adefila’s Crown Troupe of Africa whose studio is down the road, but he got slaps in return.

Attention @StanbicIBTC, some staff at some of your branches are illegally profiting from backdoor FX exchange by hoarding high-value currencies from your customers.

It’s a practice I’ve suspected for years but one I finally confirmed yesterday.
1/11 Every single time I’ve had to withdraw USD at your Allen Avenue branch, it always came with a caveat: “Please we only have small notes; hope you don’t mind.”

Since these were usually small amounts (often payments for pieces for overseas newspapers), I never minded.

A Wamos Air Flight PLM556 conveying more than 200 stranded Nigerians arrived in Abuja from London on Tuesday.

The passengers were meant to return for COVID-19 tests yesterday but, guess what? Many of them did not show up!
#fisayoscovid19series
1/11 First of all, this was meant to be an Air Peace flight and should have taken off on Monday July 13 but landing permit issues prompted a rescheduling with Wamos Air for Tuesday.
