See some graphs in thread or check out our #APSA2021 panel (Latinxs in the 2020 Presidential Election @ 5est) Theory - some Latinx blame immigrants for increasing hostility towards Latinx in US. They are redefining Latinidad to exclude immigrants. As such, Trump and restrictive policies are not a status threat - and support for Trump signals this redefinition of Latinidad to outgroups.
