I made an autistic criteria quiz so you don’t have to pay for an autism assessment.

Answers at the end.

🧵 1). What do you value more: Protecting people you care about or revealing the truth?

2). How are you?

3). Do you need body language when having a conversation?

4). If you really wanted a sandwich but someone needed it more than you, would you give it to them?

Have you ever felt misunderstood?

Like no matter how hard you tried to re-word or explain something, people still didn’t get what you were saying? In fact, you seemed to be offending them the more you tried to communicate?

Me too. Here’s why I think that is.

People keep saying they don’t know why others aren’t wearing masks, but I do.

Neurotypical brains are designed to think about the short term. They might care about the pandemic for a while, but they physically can’t keep doing it. 🧵

#ActuallyAutistic Autistic brains are designed to care. We can’t help but care. Even though we might be lonely and depressed and desperately want to socialize, we see the bigger picture over our own needs.

As someone who’s been chronically ill for 10 years, let me give you some advice if you have long Covid.

Everybody will tell you that it’s your fault; that you just need to eat better and exercise more and try this and do that.

None of it will cure you. Of course eating healthy and getting exercise and generally taking care of yourself is good. Don’t stop taking care of yourself.

But don’t expect it to cure you, because no matter how many people tell you that it will, I promise you it won’t.
