A new Commission of Inquiry on Tigray Genocide (CITG) report has been released. And it’s one of the most devastating human rights documents of our time.
It confirms that sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) during the Tigray war was systematic, genocidal, and state-directed. 2/
The study covered 481,201 survivors across Tigray — a staggering number that represents nearly one-third of all women and girls aged 15+.
Of these, 59.5% endured at least one form of gender-based violence.
53% of them were raped.
12.7% were subjected to sexual slavery.
