#Ethiopia #24/7Economy
As one of the low-income countries in the world, how many hours individuals are working both in private & public sectors? "8"?
How can we alleviate poverty by just working "8"hours?
We MUST create a #24/7Economy @AbiyAhmedAli@EyobTolina@FitsumAdela

Our annual gross domestic product is ~$100B. That is less than half of the world richest individual's net worth. We're 115M people and have a gross per capita income of <$900. Sad!
Do you think people in developed & emerging countries became richer by working <8 hours?

First some facts regarding our economy
* Inflation is at 35% or more
* We are running negative real interest rate (-28%). Huge purchasing power loss on saving & income
* >$12B trade deficit (we import 3x more than we export)
* Shrinking economic growth due to war & drought

THREAD 1. I'm on a long road trip & came across with #Ethiopia|'s 'home grown economic reform agenda' doc & tried to chew it but unable to swallow it neither as major economic reform nor as 'home grown economic reform'.
2. Without being bogged on how or what it is called, I will try to put my personal take & feedback on the the fundamental issues/flaws realted to to this reform. I remember a yr ago I've indicated what I think regarding major economic reforms should be undertaken in #Ethiopia.
