One summer read (still reading) that has been oh-so-good is Nina Holm Vohnsen's The Absurdity of Bureaucracy: How Implementation Works. If you work in government, you may appreciate it. Here's some tweets for your enjoyment. Premise of the book: an ethnographic portrayal of the Danish labor market system and a randomized control trial (Active-Back Sooner) conceived by the Danish Min of Employment in the fall of 2008.

So at last year's global SD conference, I theorized service design standards as a form of network power (Castells).
"Network power can be understood as the standards or protocols of communication that determine the rules to be accepted once in the network." 1/n
