Arun Chaudhary, who served in Intelligence Bureau (IB) for very long and retired as DG @DGSSB passed away early this morning. I first met him when was a joint director in IB in Delhi handling Kashmir affairs more than a decade and half back...+ +Later he went to Srinagar as local IB station chief and then came back to become special director in charge of airport sector in CISF and then hanged his boots as an IPS officer (1977 batch Bihar cadre) as chief of @DGSSB

Dineshwar Sharma belonged to rare breed of officers who could speak truth to political executive with all the requisite bluntness. His voice carried weight as he had no vested interest except what's good for nation. Here is my tribute to Sharma who we untimely lost today.... Sharma, 1979 batch Kerala cadre IPS officer, had a relationship of comfort with NSA Ajit Doval. Doval was also his cadre -mate and a senior in IB who Sharma regularly went to seek guidance. Sharma's first Kashmir posting came following a refusal by a fellow flamboyant officer...

As per the NIA Act, the central agency can take over any case wherein charges under the UAPA have been invoked with out the consent of the state... The Act states that the centre/MHA/NIA needs to be informed about any case registered under the UAPA by the state concerned and thereafter the centre/MHA/NIA takes considered view that whether the case should remain with the state police or be taken over by the NIA
