The danger of publishing news without background checks on claims made - it will lead to confusion, defamation and disinformation.

Newsrooms and journalists ought to exercise caution, not to fall into the barrage of mis/disinformation. Let’s take one example today on the alleged Agenzia Nova article about PM Anwar Ibrahim.

Taking a closer look, there were two articles published, one sensational headline and the other calling Anwar a reformist (in Italian).

Do note, none of these articles have authors. 🚩

It was raining so heavily on my way to Bukit Jalil stadium and upon arriving, all hell stopped.

Waiting to catch @JJ_Lin tonight for the JJ Lin’s World Tour concert, this is my first concert after almost 10 years since Avicii’s performance in 2013. Last minute decision to catch @JJ_Lin’s last leg of the #JJLin20 World Tour in 2022 here in Kuala Lumpur! Sort of like a treat for myself after graduating for my masters. twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

My worst fear just came, now I have to fork out more money to change flight tickets for my parents, and accommodation too.

Sigh! Image Expensive to change for flights from Sarawak to KL and accommodation for both my parents who will be here to attend my convocation. All these added to the extra costs and burden.

Imagine so many people who are also affected by these.

TW: Suicide & murder

We have stated this many umpteen times about unethical and unsafe reporting on suicide and murder. There is a public interest in such stories but is it necessary to sensationalise tragic incidents this way.

No. No.

This is not right, the story is UNSAFE. Image Stories reported in that manner is extremely upsetting to the families affected by the incident and also people living with depression and suicidal ideation. Sensationalising stories with revealing too much details can be extremely triggering to those struggling with depression.

[BN's landslide in Melaka, PH drowning in disillusionment]

What do we make sense about the results? Am I surprised with the outcomes of the Melaka state election on Nov 20? Not really, the results have been rather expected as it is with the low turnout.

It checks every box. With Barisan Nasional becoming the biggest winner, winning a landslide victory with 21 seats out of 28 seats contested and also seeing Umno taking a total of 18 seats, MCA won two in Kelebang and Machap Jaya while MIC won one seat in Gadek.

These are mixed seats.

Morning Melaka! Weather looks good in the morning and I don’t see many queues outside the polling stations.

Melaka votes 🗳 today! One thing for sure, it’s Abah everywhere.

Umno and BN stood firmly behind Bera MP Ismail Sabri as the PM candidate to be presented to Agong today.

With that, should PN and GPS go along with the nomination, Ismail Sabri will have the support of 115 MPs, crossing the simple majority number in the House. What culminated from the Umno BN’s meeting last night didn’t reflect what was said with the Agong and his deputy, Sultan Abdullah of Pahang and Sultan Nazrin of Perak - focusing on Covid-19 and economy, moving away from the “old politics”.

In this case, we’re back to square one?

Here's a quick overview with several exclusive stories quoting insiders from the meeting and various permutations prior to the audience with the Agong tomorrow as Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin tendering his resignation. Sinar Harian - Muhyiddin's bipartisan 'offer' for reforms were rejected in total by the opposition that led to his decision to resign as the "gentleman" way.

Here's my quick take in the midst of another episode of political impasse in Malaysian politics.

The rebuke by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on July 29 was the last straw on the camel's back. That sent the whole Perikatan Nasional into disarray, like a headless chicken. The back and forth of statements between the Prime Minister's Office and Istana Negara were just at the tip of iceberg. With the resignation of a member of Muhyiddin's cabinet, how will that ensue with the other Umno ministers and deputy ministers?

So, I kinda miss the afternoon session of the Parliamentary debates.

When I checked the video again, what a horror.

Why on earth the MPs are peddling on anti-parasitic drugs? For goodness sake. We still don't have clear substantial evidence to show its effectiveness in treating Covid-19. There's already the treatment regime for Category 4 and 5, used by Health Ministry and WHO.

#Parliament Day 2 of the special parliamentary session, deputy speaker @AzalinaOthmanS reminded MPs to put on double masks whenever they are in the House.

That's a good reminder as some MPs fail to observe proper wearing of masks and one of them did not bother to wear masks too. #Parliament Right before the briefing by the Health Minister, MPs raised questions on the revocation of the emergency ordinance revealed by de-facto law minister Takiyuddin Hassan yesterday.

However, the minister said that he will explain next Monday.
