Using REGEX in Google Search Console is like having keyword-research super powers πŸ’ͺ

Last year, I discovered a set of keywords, thanks to GSC.

Found my competitor's URL on it that is probably generating 50k-100k PVs/month.

Yes, now I rank #1.

Here's how to find these πŸ‘‡ Image 1. Open GSC
2. Go to Search Results
3. Add a Filter (select "+ New")
4. Select "Query"
5. Select "regex"
6. Enter: (?i)^(who|what|where|when|why|how)

You will now see the questions (keywords) that your site is getting Impressions and Clicks for

"Discovered Not Indexed"

If you have a lot of URLs in this category in your GSC, that's bad news.

Recently John Mueller offered two reasons why Google might discover a page but decline to index it:

➑️ Server Capacity
➑️ Overall Website Quality

Some thoughts from me πŸ‘‡ 1. Server Capacity

An obvious one, but one that ppl miss

Check GPSI to see if Google identifies server issues

Even better, check GT Metrix and look at your waterfall report

If your server is a problem, fix it ASAP

If your website is at least 1 year old, you should be getting organic traffic and making money.

If it isn’t, something is wrong πŸ›‘

Here are the 6 reasons I often see holding websites back πŸ‘‡ 1. Content Quality
Quite often, the content just isn't good enough.

Get an honest appraisal of the content. Is it truly helpful?

Or is it just regurgitating what is already out there?

Or, even worse, is it thin content that was just published as fast as possible?

We've doubled traffic for this local vet business in 6 months.

You're probably expecting some in-depth, complicated case study.

But most of the time, simple is what works.

Here's what we did πŸ‘‡ Image 1️⃣ Basic Site Improvements

The site is on a hosted CMS, so we were limited by what we could do.

But site speed was slow, so we cleaned up image sizes, compression, improved lazy load, and a few other minor things.

Quick work, nothing hard, but real gains ImageImage

🀯 Starting a website from scratch can be overwhelming...🀯

Given the lengthy feedback loop that publishing and SEO provides, its easy to throw in the towel and give up.

My thoughts on how to survive until you succeed πŸ‘‡ 1. Prepare Yourself

I interview plenty of ppl on @nichepursuits podcast that succeed quickly...

But that probably won't be you.

And that's ok. For most, it takes 1+ yr to see consistent earnings. Prepare yourself for this.

πŸ›‘ 5 Steps to Follow BEFORE Starting a Website

So many of us make mistakes on the first website we start.

🎯 Here are 5 things I wish I knew before I started my first site: 1. Topical Research
➑️ Are there enough products?
➑️ Are the products expensive enough?
➑️ Are there enough topics to write about?

You don't want to be in a niche that doesn't have enough topics. Or, even worse, a niche that doesn't have enough products.

3. Add a Filter (select "+ New")
4. Select "Query"

I have a LOT of experience working on sites with images that are WAY too large.

Because I used to be a pro photographer, my agency works on a lot of photographers' websites.

Here are the exact steps we follow for controlling image sizes πŸ‘‡ First, understand that there are 2 components to images and their "size":

1. Dimensions: the height and width of the image. Obviously, the bigger the dimensions, the larger the image size

2. File Size: represented as "kb" or "mb", this is the total size of the image file

The easiest way to get organic backlinks is to write a blog post based on statistics or include statistics in your post.

If you can incorporate your own data, even better.

Here is a super simple way to get those stats, without much work πŸ‘‡ Step 1: Determine what broad questions readers in your niche have.

If you don't know (you should), use Reddit and forums to determine.

Note that these aren't keywords you're looking for.

You're looking for broad, question-based topics.

But did you know Link Whisper makes Deleting Internal Links easy?

Here's WHY I needed to delete 818 internal links recently, and how Link Whisper made it easy πŸ‘‡ One of my sites was hit hard by the May 2022 update - I've been working hard to improve it

I recently discovered that I had a lot of irrelevant internal links throughout the site.

Most websites have the odd internal link that doesn't make a lot of sense, but this was rampant

βœ… Generate Press
βœ… Generate Blocks
βœ… RankMath
βœ… AAWP
βœ… Async JavaScript
βœ… ShortPixel
βœ… Link Whisper
βœ… Table of Contents Plus
βœ… WP YouTube Lyte

Did I miss any?
#wordpress #website #plugins And... no, I don't use WP Rocket.

Love the plugin. We work with it on a lot of client websites.

But we can pass CWV without it, so I don't add it.

Stop writing about a product's features

People don't buy the features in a product

They buy the benefits it gives them

You need to leverage this simple principle when writing copy for your website, landing pages, and emails

An example πŸ‘‡ Many think that Apple was the first to release a portable MP3 player (iPod). But they weren't

The first MP3 player released was by Saehan Information Systems in 1997

Apple was just the first to make it popular

90 seconds to find a treasure trove of low competition, question-style keywords.

You're probably not using this tactic, and its really really simple to implement.

Here we go...

#seo #keywordresearch 1. Open Ahrefs
2. Put "quora.com" into Site Explorer
3. Go to Organic Keywords
4. Search for a seed keyword that you want to research

For this example, I chose "mango" Image

Yesterday I shared about how to use REGEX and Google Search Console to find question keywords.

I found a term I was NOT using in my article. I added one word to the article once

Today, the article jumped from #9 to #5 for the keyword Image This is an interesting situation to point out, bc its probably happening to you as well

I was already using the first part of this keyword... I just didn't have the word "naturally" in the article

BUT I did already mention natural solutions. I just didn't use that terminology
