Today @CDCgov published a well intended report that restates something we have known for a while: mask fit and filtration matter😷. I want to comment on the meaning of this report for healthcare facilites @SHEA_Epi 1/5 Real world data 🌎has shown that healthcare workers wearing medical grade masks do not transmit COVID-19 to patients even if actively infectious 👏. These findings show that medical masks used in real world conditions are effective as source control. bit.ly/2Z5e7sS 2/5

I have been curious about what will the next weeks bring to College towns in Iowa. Especially Iowa City. Below is a thread that combines some epidemiologic thoughts and a lot of hope for the town we call home. @CityOfIowaCity covidactnow.org/?s=983197 Can college towns prevent spread of #COVID19 covid among students and to the surrounding community? Researchers have modeled the potential impact of several measures: arxiv.org/pdf/2006.03175…

Interesting report @apoorva_nyc. Many aspects are✅. SARS-coV2 can have airborne transmission in certain circumstances. Both the U.S. CDC (cdc.gov/coronavirus/20…) and the European CDC (ecdc.europa.eu/sites/default/…) already acknowledge the possibility of airborne transmission. 1/8 The WHO statement on airborne transmission during aerosol generating procedures (AGP) is targeted to acute healthcare facilities. AGPs like represent the highest risk exposures when treating know cases of COVID-19 in hospitals. who.int/publications/i…. This is correct ✅. 2/8
