A few thoughts (or things which I wish to remind myself of) from my attendance of the Oslo Freedom Forum (@OsloFF) and some additional events surrounding it.

Thread/ 1. Bitcoiners are awesome. Many of us have converged on the same set of paramount values, by virtue of their explicit representation (potentially in their highest form) in bitcoin..

I admire and respect so much the principled action of the truckers, and their discipline and wisdom in navigating a tense situation.

They’re like that guy in the video dancing by himself, and every day they hold strong, other people, in different places all over the world.. are becoming inspired and emboldened to join them.

People that for so long have felt alone, powerless, and resigned to a world that made little sense to them, are realizing that there are many others that feel as they do..

It's extremely hard to put into words what went down this week in and around the @TheBitcoinConf

I've spent a lot of time digging into the personal side of the #bitcoin phenomenon, I've known for a while just how unique and special so many in this space are.. how much love and respect there is in this community, how dedicated bitcoiners are to the cause, and how doggedly determined they are to see it succeed.

But even with that recognition, I'm nearly at a loss for words for just how beautiful my experience was.

I love this beautiful planet & I want it, & those who inhabit it, to flourish.

So today, on #earthday, it’s an ideal time to expose the ill-considered arguments that undermine environmental progress by claiming ‘#bitcoin is bad for the environment’. (‘How dare you!’)

Thread👇 What do people mean when they say ‘bad for the environment’? If the concern is merely to avoid disrupting the natural harmony of the earth ex-humans, then nearly all human action is ‘bad’ for it.

‘The answer to the problems of humanity is the integrity of the individual.’ - @jordanbpeterson

1/6 As a result, the fidelity with which that integrity is communicated is of paramount importance. 2/6 Money is the signal through which we communicate our values & principles to the market (other people). Distortion of the money leads to distortion of the ‘data’ it’s meant to carry (what we’re ‘communicating’ and consequently ‘who we are’).

Just got back from my first hunting trip.

We got one moose (not my kill).

On the way back home I started thinking about the experience, insights that emerged, and how the world might be different if more people hunted.

Thread👇👇 (12 total) Nature is truth.

Having an unmediated relationship with truth is both powerful and beautiful.

It’s raw, pure reality, and you're forced to contend with it as it is.

As is always the case with truth, it changes you, you don’t change it.

The 4th #bitcoin epoch, and you.

A thread.

1/23 1/ Pumped for the halving? I sure as shit am.

It’s an important occasion, marking the next step in bitcoin’s inevitable march to becoming not only the hardest money ever, but the first instantiation of objectively verifiable absolute scarcity that humanity has ever engaged with.

1/4 Bitcoin represents a paradigm shift on so many levels. Its ‘unconfiscatability’ is one of them. Prior to it, power could always be used to take wealth, and as a result, power was required to protect wealth and create order (manifesting many societal institutions, such as law) 2/4 Such a dynamic makes abuses and conflict inevitable (power corrupts)—and true freedom impossible. What is the ‘ordering principle’ in a bitcoin paradigm, where power cannot be used to steal wealth?
