Let’s look at how much $1mil is, in 2019, for a 77 yr old
My Grandpa (an electrician for 50 years) was worth abt $1.5 million when he retired at 72
Health problems started at age 80
He died a few months ago at 88 & had $10,000 left (which paid funeral/final medical expenses)
He worked 6-7 days/wk x 50 yrs; lived modestly & saved literally every cent he could. I used to roll pennies for him
He made some good investments
During the 8 years between retirement & a stroke, he took 2 cruises (only 2 he ever took).
He lived in the same house since 1960

Reading through the Third Way’s new position statements.
I’m horrified.
The basic theme is that the only “worth” people (w/o dynastic wealth) have is their ability to provide labor (thread) thirdway.org/memo/a-new-gen…
It’s painfully obvious that NONE of the people who contributed to this “piece” have EVER lived in the real world.
They scribbled down a bunch of campaign slogans, many of which have fatal flaws tied to practical problems.

I’ve got some serious (unanswered) questions, regarding the “Russia hacked the 2016 US election” and #TrumpRussia
My mind is open abt both issues.
(Thread)
1.) It’s a known FACT that the US leads the world in foreign election interference.
To those who claim RUSSIA’s interference is an “act of war”: Why aren’t Americans in powerful positions leading movements 2 end US interference in foreign elections &/or taking it to the UN?
