On yesterday's Salem Junction Twitter Space with @krishashok and @sidin (featuring special guest @supriyan), I shared a couple of anecdotes about the fascinating stations codes on the Indian Railways (IR) network. So here, a short thread 🚂 🧵 - Codes, of course, have been a ubiquitous part of rail (and now air) travel. They help identify where we are going, where something belongs, and where we are at - all in a short and succinct way.

On yesterday's Salem Junction with @krishashok and @sidin, I shared a small story about the grand old Banyan Tree at the Theosophical Society grounds in Besant Nagar, Chennai.

Here today is a short thread on it, with more detail. The Adyar Aala Maram (Adyar Banyan Tree) has been a fixture of South Madras since well before there *was* a South Madras.

Located on the banks of the Ad(a)yar river as it meanders towards its estuary, the grounds became part of the Theosophical Society in the early 20th century.

Best child actors I have seen in any Indian movie, ever. Lovely film. #Dhh If you thought Taare Zameen Par was great, this movie will seriously blow you out of the water. Unbelievably relatable to anyone who has ever gone to school in India. Very, very well made movie. Still thinking about it a whole day later.
