It’s wild to see this variant of a slide from my presentation making the case for GraphQL 4 years ago now in a keynote in front of #graphqlsummit. A lot has changed but the story has stayed consistent. I’m still not sold on federation and this #graphqlsummit keynote isn’t helping. The only case being made here is that “monolith” is a four-letter word, but then goes on to explain all the costs and difficulty setting up federation.

There’s a moment in the upcoming #GraphQLDocumentary from @schrockn: “Lee brought deep hardcore computer science; he can write a parser, a compiler.”

I’m the only one of our team without a CS background or degree. I had impostor syndrome for years and taught myself to catch up. I actually learned how grammars and parsers worked to improve our GraphQL parser. I read everything I could get my hands on so I would sound competent to my team.
