Defendants get the criteria pulled up again.
Defendants are asking if one of Pegden's (millions) of maps could be less compact than the enacted map.

Looks like the #NCGA House Redistricting Committee meeting is about to get started, finally.
Rep. Hall says they are waiting on a number of amendments - another 10 minutes. Seems like there must have been a lot of intra-party negotiation in the past 3.5 hours.

Here in the #NCGA Senate Redistricting Committee meeting - senators are debating the proposed Republican Congressional map - Sen. Willey Nickel is showing something on a posterboard but I can't see it from here. #ncpol
Nickel says that we're a 50/50 state but the map gives 10-11 safe Republican seats out of 14.

So! I've been out of commission because the internet at my house died but now it's fixed! So today I will be going back through the #NCGA map drawing recordings.
Doesn't look like any recordings are available for Monday on the channel 😒 so I will start on Tuesday's
Looks like Sen. Hise spent a LOT of time on Senate Station 4 on Tuesday

Another day of map drawing in the #NCGA! about 25 minutes ago someone got on House Station 2 - looking at snapshots (basically the images that they make to print out.)
This is from map HBV-10
Here's another print they got

He then goes in and unselects all the Goldsboro pieces.
Seems like he's dealing with the fact that it can be pretty hard to always keep cities whole in NC because of their discontiguous pieces.
You know, I bet if you ASKED the people in Goldsboro they'd let you know what makes sense to them and what doesn't. 🤔

Drawing is still happening! Rep. Hall came in about 30 minutes ago and started working at House Station 1 on the state House map - this may be his last day to finish it.
Mecklenburg as they left it - looks like someone is showing the changes they made yesterday.

I'm going back through yesterday's redistricting recordings now since some stuff happened at the end of the day that I missed. #ncpol
House Station 3 starting at 7:22.20 someone came in to work on the House map.
Someone is at Senate Station 3 working on the Iredell / Mecklenburg state Senate grouping, but I can't tell who from the feed.
Rewound a bit and I think I heard Sen. Clark? However it's clear that more than one member is going to be at this station.

This morning some staff and possibly a legislator (?) came in to work on Rep. Hall's state House map.
The staff member said there were some non-contiguous areas that needed to be fixed first.

Hall also opened and got print outs of a congressional map. I believe this is the one he was working on yesterday
Here's the three way split in Mecklenburg, creating a district for Tim Moore to the West and preserving Dan Bishop's district to the East.

Meanwhile on #NCGA House Station 1 Rep. Hall's House map is being worked on - HBK-7
Durham is being worked on - Durham people, how does this House map look to you so far? @bribrough ?

Also, people from the Sandhills are not getting the district they asked for that would unite Cumberland, Hoke, Moore, and Robeson. Instead these counties are split up.
Moore and Hoke are paired with the Charlotte suburbs yet again, something people in both places specifically said they did not want.

Here's a closer view of the Triangle area - that dark pink district goes all the way from southern Wake to Randolph and Davidson counties. Light pink packs Orange and Durham with a chunk of Wake.

About and hour and 15 min ago, Rep. Hall started working on his state House map at Station 1. His first target was Wake.
First district in the Southeast of the county. Came together very quickly (within 2 minutes) as Hall just rattles off a list of precincts - so quickly that the staff member helping him initially has trouble following.

It may shock you, but the #NCGA doesn't recognize Indigenous People's Day - so the committee rooms are open today for map drawing.
Currently Sen. Clark is on Station 1 in committee room 544 working on this map which I believe may be a Congressional (these don't look like the available clusters to me)
