I filed my taxes last week and have been thinking about what it means to make money from a book for those of us not raking in the million dollar advances (or Kickstarters...) so, a thread bc I believe these things should be discussed more openly: Negative Space has sold well so far, especially for a small press hybrid memoir (and I hope it will continue to!), but the royalties haven’t come close to breaking even on promotional costs

I have a few of different classes coming up at @CatapultStory and @barrelhouse, on personal essay writing, generating essay ideas, structure in memoir, and an open-ended nonfiction workshop. Maybe one of these is exactly what you need right now? (Bear with me for a short #thread) 8-week nonfiction workshop at @barrelhouse — Workshop two pieces, either essays or memoir excerpts, with feedback from me and 11 other writers!
