Last yr, I called a manufacturer of school CO2 monitors to ask how hard it'd be for schools/ @CADeptEd to show classroom CO2 levels on a public website. There are robust APIs, so it'd be easy. Why don't we have a public CO2 dashboard for all schools that got CalSHAPE $?🧵⏬ Many California schools have connected CO2 monitors installed through CalSHAPE. Is school CO2 already aggregated somewhere by @CalEnergy, @ChairHochschild @Patty_CEC? If so, does @CAPublicHealth @AirResources @CADeptEd @CAgovernor have access to the data /could they get it?🧵⏬

I wish I could tell you the call was reassuring. It wasn't. While I appreciated the call, I was left with the impression that pushing "urgency of normal" is more important than preventing the spread of COVID & other pathogens & protecting long term health 🧵⏩

On Jan 16, I phoned @CAPublicHealth & asked to speak with someone about the "COVID-19 Disease Control & Prevention Memo" &  "COVID-19 Isolation Guidance" of Jan 9. The rep asked me to email my questions & concerns & promised to escalate them to the ID team, which I did. /1 I followed-up on Jan 17 to make sure @CAPublicHealth got my email & forwarded it as promised. They did & I was promised a timely reply. 4 days later, I've not heard back, so I guessed Dr. Tomas Aragon's (head of CDPH) address & emailed him this am. /2

What is your justification for sending covid positive kids into school while contagious, @CAPublicHealth @OUSDNews? This runs against @cdc & @who isolation guidance. This is a next gen DIY air filter I built for #California #wildfire season, leveraging a design from @AbraarKaran & @sri_srikrishna. I used foam core instead of cardboard for the shroud, which makes it look pretty. Big size improvement on #CorsiRosenthalBox & air smells great! /1 Here's the side view. I sliced a 7" circle in the center of 30" foam core (@DollarTree via @Instacart) & duct taped a 16" pizza screen (@Walmart) inside to protect toddler fingers. I sliced a straight cut half way through the foam core at 4.5" from each side w/ an Xacto knife. /2
