It truly warms my heart to see all of the #Startwith8Hollywood tweets. WOC have traditionally been barred from the spaces where connections are made, where friendships and relationships built. It's why we always hear "we don't know any WOC we can hire", or "we can't find any..." We are building towards organic diversity: if everyone knows 8 WOC in their field, they can make those recommendations and personal referrals when someone gets asked "do you know any...?"
And this is already happening. Mentors are making referrals. This is huge!!

Maybe some of you are wondering why this "sudden" outburst from my end regarding @TheCherryPicks. I'm not normally this outspoken. I don't get involved with Twitter fights. But I will stand up when it's right to do so. I have been concerned about them from day 1. .@rantngcinephile and I attended their 1st panel at SXSW18 and were concerned. It was discussed on the Film Inquiry Slack. CP founders brushed off questions about diversity, only wanted to include women publishing with big papers. Problematic, to say the least.
