Here are my thoughts. The Flames don't have a single forward in their organization who projects to be a first-liner in five years. Not one.

Making the playoffs this year has always been immaterial because this team simply doesn't have the horses — but they won't admit it. 🧵 Why else would a team in their position refuse on principle to shop valuable veteran players at the trade deadline? Why else would they keep playing a suffocating style to maintain their spot on the bubble?

Time for an impromptu highlight reel thread of Adam Ruzicka and Matthew Phillips from the 2020–21 Stockton Heat season, when Phillips was 22 and Ruzicka was 21.

I think there's a better than decent chance they play together with the #Flames tonight. This was the best goal of that season for the Heat.
