Single cell went from a niche tool used largely to identify cell types, to a commoditised technique used to detect differential expression in just a few years. The analysis methods still haven't quite caught up... 1/n Differential expression studies using scRNA-seq have been plagued with flaws in how the calculations were done. The most important issue has been where published studies have treated cells from the same individual as independent replicates. 2/n

While my instinctive reaction to #Covid_19 is to #shutdown everything, it's worth bearing in mind the government will have evaluated this option. So why not do it? Instead there is talk of "herd immunity" and "taking it on the chin" 1/n My suspicion is that the government is thinking about the viruses evolution and the possibility of a 'second wave'. This is not unreasonable as we do know that the #coronavirus is mutating (albeit we don't know if this is functional): 2/n
