#OTD 25 years ago, Tony Williams died of a heart attack at 51. Others can debate his rank among the greatest jazz drummers; I’ll simply say there was never anyone better. There are hundreds of examples of Tony Williams just being incredible behind a set of drums and cymbals. Here's one of the first that swiveled my head around, with Miles Davis Quintet on Feb. 12, 1964. Tony was 18.
