Remembering Gopinath Bordoloi on his death anniversary: The man who fought for #Assam to be a part of #India (thread)

Why should we celebrate him?

1. He singlehandedly fought the Muslim League and their intentions to club Assam into East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). (1) 2. He staged an inner revolt within the Congress party backed by Mahatma Gandhi when Nehru and co neglected Assam following the Cabinet Mission Plan (which potentially would have clubbed us with East Pakistan).
