BREAKING: North Korea's Friday missile test was of its train-mounted ballistic missiles. It was conducted by the Railway-borne Missile Regiment of North Phyongan Province, with leader Kim Jong Un not reportedly present. Stay tuned for more soon According to North Korean state media, the railway regiment received the firing order "without previous warning" on the morning of Jan. 14 and hit a "fixed target in the East Sea of Korea with two tactical guided missiles."

THREAD — Here's what we know about North Korea's latest military parade:

- North Korea rolled out what looks like four Pukguksong-class submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs). No ICBM spotted.

- Kim Jong Un attended the event wearing a leather jacket and fur hat. - North Korea also showed off short-range ballistic missiles, tanks and other armored vehicles.

- State media said the parade is meant to show people both at “home and abroad” that the DPRK’s military and nuclear weapons capabilities are strong.

The Sunday edition of the Rodong Sinmun is carrying Kim Yo Jong's warning to South Korea.

This is not a good sign.

If there was even a small hope this is all just bluster, by carrying it domestically in the main newspaper it makes it much harder for Pyongyang to change course. Clarification: Though the Kim Yo Jong warning is carried on the online version of the Rodong, we've not been able to check yet if it's in the print-edition.
