@jeriboss @Adesunkanmifiz Yes. And I speak honestly. In no western country could I have started my law practice less than a year after Law School and NYSC from my tattered briefcase and no office as I did in Nigeria and made steady if difficult progress year on year. @jeriboss @Adesunkanmifiz Apart from litigation, I made money from many fields here that would have required specialist certifications abroad - real estate, taxation, probate, corporate consultancies, etc.

Opportunities are rife here and entry restrictions practically non-existent. That's a goldmine.

@business @bopinion Polling the likes of which the world has seen in the last 2 US Presidential Elections were not designed to PREDICT the elections but to KILL enthusiasm & SUPPRESS support for the @GOP with @realDonaldTrump the main target. It wasn't even disingenuous - just a straight up hit job. @business @bopinion @GOP @realDonaldTrump It is a psychological given that humans would rather not identify with the losing side. It is the entire basis of evolution. So duplicitous polling creates negative impressions of the losing (target) side while passing off the winning side as the acceptable side.

I think we are here today because institutions like @NhrcNigeria which Prof. Odinkalu led for years have failed to do their jobs as much as successive presidents. Everybody can see how @TundeIrukera is magnifying the reach & effectiveness of @fccpcnigeria, taking down bad guys... Powerful companies which tried to extort citizens thru price gouging during #COVID19 are facing trial now. He cld have buckled to pressure & left them alone.

How many rogue or killer policemen did @NhrcNigeria put away during Prof's time? Or was he ignorant of SARS atrocities?

@thecableng Aspects of the new CAMA are patently illegal and unconstitutional. There is just no other way to describe them. Executive functionaries arrogated judicial and even legislative powers to themselves that are worse than military era ouster clauses...

#SMH @thecableng Sad thing is you all think this is about your vendetta against Nigerian churches. None of you know the actual reach. A while ago many International Devt Partners & #INGOs, @ActionAidNG
for instance, domesticated & registered with @CACNigeria... 👉

Here's what I've come to suspect. Wokeness don kill many pioneer Buharists. Most pre-2015 Buharists, esp intellectuals, were not grounded in reality. They had a romanticised view of @MBuhari and the rigours of governance when they, unsolicited, clothed him with a messiah complex. With heads in the clouds, they became quickly disillusioned once he became @NGRPresident and they realised he had no wand to wave to conjure up the #Utopia of their dreams. As time wore on & it became evident that he could not call forth the things that be not as if they were...

@CTmagazine For a mag which has had its finger on the pulse of Morality in the US for decades, it's truly sad @markgalli thinks & writes that @POTUS “has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration” without realising that ship sailed away from the US decades ago. @CTmagazine @markgalli @POTUS All your editorialising, nay, sermonising, from Nixon to Trump progressively makes clear is that @CTmagazine is no longer a Witness of Truth but a Do Nothing Wailer content to document the moral demise of America from a self-righteous high horse. Which is sad.

ADVICE FOR LAWYERS, AT YEAR'S END

How To Rake In The Millions in Litigation.

A Thread.

Remember two phrases:
1. Pro Bono.
2. Public Interest Litigation.

Somebody said Nigeria is a lawless society and therefore a difficult one for lawyers to find success in.

I disagree. On the contrary, this is where lawyers should thrive the most. Nearly every day presents with an opportunity to file a potential multimillion Naira suit on behalf of one citizen or the other. Unfortunately, because they're not trained to be entrepreneurial in legal practice...

@thecableng Is @PeterObi aware that China arbitrarily fixed her poverty threshold so ANNUAL income of $427 means you're not poor? For India it's $684, same as Nigeria.

google.com/amp/s/amp.scmp… @thecableng @PeterObi So, if Nigeria should ignore the World Banks & IMFs of this world and also fix her poverty threshold at $427 or N153K p/a, instantly shedding about 70% of her current poverty numbers, would @PeterObi consider that laudable too? After all, he is endlessly impressed with China's.

Blame casting won't help. Nigeria has suffered from substandard leadership, which was often a mirror of the citizenry at each epoch.

The Post-Independence generation was feckless, post-Civil War fatalistic and post-Oil Boom reckless. So, today's Nigeria is what you get when 'No Skin Pain' is joined by 'Siddon Look' who is followed by 'I Don't Care.'

Now things have come to a head. All the cans (of worms) kicked down the road by the 2 earlier generations are being fired back upstream by the last generation.
