I understand why there is a lot of backlash from Mummy GO's testimony. Bleeding in Pregnancy is the leading cause of death in pregnant women and is not a joke. While thanking God for Mummy GO, women shouldn't use that template in today's day & age. To put it simply; you will die. In my 10 years of clinical practice I have literally seen women bleed in pregnancy. It still took the same faith and God's grace WITH timely medical intervention to save them. And yes, these women were also Christians. It's not the lack of faith that put these women at risk.

The average lifespan of an African is 63 years for men and 66 years for women. Meanwhile it is 80 years in Canada.

So by simply changing where you live, you can add about 15 years on average to your life.

Migration isn't always because of money, you can migrate to live longer. Fact: You're more likely to die of an ANY form of Health Emergency in Nigeria than in any North American or European Country. You're more likely to die of violence related issues in Africa than in developed countries.

These are the factors that influence lifespan.

I have first hand, seen the results of bad decisions made by Pregnant Women because they hate CS and "it's not their portion". The most painful one was the one who after 5 years of searching, got pregnant, we discovered the baby was too big and she'll need CS. She kept quiet. The baby was also not in the right position. We counselled her appropriately for CS. She said she has heard. Only for her to visit a TBA where the performed "External Cephalic Version", something that OBGYNs only perform under guidance in a well equipped facility.

Lemme say this again, there are two forms of Normal Delivery known to man, there's Vaginal Delivery, and there is Cesarean Section. Each of them have their indications. Women who ought to deliver through CS and refuse are the reason for high maternal deaths in Nigeria. I mean how can you have an Obstructed Labor due to an Inadequate Pelvis and you expect to push your baby through a bony obstacle? Howwwwwww? You want to kill yourself? Or you want to risk a Vaginal Delivery with Severe Preeclampsia/ Imminent Eclampsia? Ọmọ!

TIPS TO MAINTAIN GOOD BLOOD PRESSURE

A few days ago I said that people who have Hypertension can actually have little or no symptoms and that's why it's called a silent killer. Today let's share a few tips to maintain a good BP. The final tip is interesting if you're a Nigerian. The first thing I'd like to share is what I refer to as the safe range of blood pressure. The safe or normal range is from 120/80mmHg. There might be lesser deviations from this point which are also normal however just note this number, especially if you're Hypertensive.

There are some of us that don't have the pleasure of being able to consume milk products like we wish because when we do, it is accompanied by diarrhea, abdominal pains and bloating.

Sorry my dear friend, you're lactose intolerant. Let's talk about lactose intolerance today. Lactose intolerance is a common disorder and is due to the inability to digest lactose into its constituents, glucose and galactose, secondary to low levels of lactase enzyme in the digestive tract.

So when you consume milk, it contains lactose. This lactose must be broken down.

So FAM... the ministry is moving. Nightshift Podcast will be hosted in a Game Night format every Fortnight (Fortnite psych 😁😁) on Twitter and YouTube. On Game Nights, it's You and Me LIVE, Heart to Heart, play games, win gifts, donate to a charitable cause.

Rinse and repeat 😍 Image So before we begin I just want to run a poll on details of the live podcast so that we all can be a part of it

Would you prefer it to be on Weekday Nights or Weekend Nights?

I spoke with a Consultant on the shared percentage he receives whenever he performs a procedure in my facility, when I did he screamed!

But this sacrifice is why I, a small boy, can call a Consultant by 2am and they show up in less than 30 minutes. Part of my training, from Childhood and during my Medical years, was respect and reverence for Senior Colleagues, I choose to reflect this in how I relate with them, and how I pay for the services they render to my patients.

For me, I'll choose relationships over profits.

Thank you to all those who tuned in. For those who didn't, here's an ICYMI thread.

2020 is ending. What a year it's been. COVID 19 has affected everyone on the planet and it ravages on. It's time we are more deliberate about our health goals.

This is why we need a Health Diary. A health diary is a personal health tracker and journal that tracks your overall health. It will include key moments about the state of your health in that time frame. Here are a few things that could be added to your Health Diary.

Allow me tell this story well...

So a pregnant woman, after 5 years of trial to get pregnant, finally gets pregnant. When she finally got to term (to deliver) baby was in a wrong presentation and baby was big (known as Fetal Malpresentation and Macrosomia). We advised for CS.... aka Cesarean Section and this woman said "Ok I have heard". Just for her to head back to a TBA (Traditional Birth Attendant) who told her "Nonsense! You won't do CS! Come let me turn this baby for you so you can deliver by yourself!". And the TBA performed a procedure known as...

I always bragged that I was the type of guy who never misses a flight, having kept a track record of prompt arrivals for my flights for over 7 years.

Well, it only happened that my Village People were asleep on my matter then suddenly woke up on my first flight to the USA. 😭😭 So here's what really happened. I had just gotten US visa (more on this later) and of course I was excited that I was going to visit the United States of freaking America! I was looking at my passport like "I have made it life abeg". Man was well pleased.

We have been asked to sit at home because of the #COVID Pandemic and I'm sure most of us feel safe staying at home, but the truth is, the home front is where quite a number of health emergencies can occur.

By 9AM use this link but before then, a THREAD

Food poisoning is quite common in our home mostly due to poor food storage conditions (no light), bad food handling, and then people consume food just so it doesn't waste. Many people dey this table.

Symptoms include abdominal pains, cramps about 4hrs after food consumption...

I apologise I couldn't post as I promised but it's rather late than never right? So here we go.

I remember @aproko_doctor ran a poll few weeks ago and I realized that a lot of folks here (about 80%) either have never had health insurance or is thinking of getting one. Shocking! It's not that surprising though as a similar percentage of people in Nigeria pay out of pocket for healthcare.

But we have health insurance plans in Nigeria.

However picking an Health Insurer can be tricky in Nigeria. Some can be trusted, while some can not for several reasons

My Hospital has gone through financially troubled times lately. And 90% of the problem is as a fact that HMOs have decided not to pay after we have rendered service.

I am in no mood to drag anyone, but HMOs should stop delaying Healthcare providers after we render a service. Some will owe you three months, six months, some one year, some TWO years. And they expect you to keep seeing their patients, the same patients who by the way are made to think they have paid us for the work and feel entitled. It's not their fault because the HMOs have the money.

The rise of social media related suicides is a wake up call to seriously consider questioning relationships in this time and age...

3 weeks ago I just rescued a 21 year old girl who drank sniper 30 minutes prior her being rushed to my Hospital...

Thread @DrJoeAbah @segalink *prior to her*

Now what happened. From all information I gathered, the girl was learning fashion design from a mentor (woman), and apparently the girl didn't like the way the mentor took advantage of her. The girl had learned enough from the mentor to enable her start on her own
