Day 4: The curious case of Dan Hodges. Mail on Sunday commentator Mr Hodges often faces the accusation - most recently via his dogged pursuit of a scalp in the case of Angela Rayner's housing arrangements - of being less than balanced re. Tory vs Labour misdemeanours. 1/8 Asked why he hadn't tweeted about Natalie Elphicke improperly intervening in her husband's sex assault case until she defected to Labour, Dan told me simply: 'I did.'
Repeated searches of his timeline reveal no such tweets. Easily cleared, up though. Just ask Dan! 2/8 Image

I had a brother, once. His name was Steven and today he would have been 60 years old.
The second of my parents' four children and their first son, he loved music, comedy and football. I didn't follow him on the football, but he definitely shaped my love of the other two. 1/17 He was 6 years older than me, and we shared a room until my early teens. We got along pretty well, but he had a temper and I was a little brother, so there were disagreements. One thing we agreed on was that this guy - The Black Knight - was the coolest of all the knights. 2/17

That Remoaner conspiracy in full:
1: Give Boris Johnson a glorious, unchallengeable 80-seat majority to create a superb, world-beating Brexit
2. Watch as he slowly realises his only options are catastrophic instant-death Brexit or slow-bleed Brexit
1/8
3. Give him a hand by unleashing a global pandemic so he can disguise the slow-bleed Brexit
4. But trick him into making a total arse of the response to the pandemic, leading to hundreds of thousands of deaths
5. Manipulate him into breaking his own Covid regulations

Yesterday I wrote a thread about how Brexit has hammered our family business, like countless SMEs across the UK. Meanwhile the Brexit elite leave us to rot and maintain the lie of 'no down-sides, only up-sides'.
These are just a few of the people who shared similar experiences.

This week we laid off most of the rest of our staff.
TL/DR: It's down to Brexit. Not Covid. Not the war in Ukraine. We've got the figures. We know our business. Brexit did this. 1/18

We sell fragrance oils to soap makers and cosmetic makers. Once, we sold hundreds of different products from a large warehouse. But while Brexiters insisted there would be no down sides, we watched business dwindle, no matter what steps we took. 2/18

Having taken part in an online pitch event with a literary agency, I now know exactly what literary agencies really want, so here are my next few pitches:

'Hunky vampire joins forces with feisty supply teacher to solve murder in Midlands motel. Twilight x Crossroads.'
1/4
'Three girls. One can of Fosters. Eight llamas. Some glitter. Can Tracy get her man? Mean Streets x Human Centipede.'

Yesterday I tweeted about the problems our family business is facing due to Brexit.
It's a pity the Brexit fans who rushed in to deny any connection didn't hang around - they would've heard from quite a few people facing similar difficulties. Here are just a few of them.

THREAD: The bots and trolls don't want you to hear it, but Brexit's bad for business. 'Just find new opportunities,' they chirp. 'It's just a few extra forms! No trouble at all!'
Here's why no amount of glib soundbites or Belief in Britain can wish away what's coming. 1/17 First, removing access to the single market and customs union disrupts the frictionless trade which makes it so easy for hundreds of thousands of UK businesses to trade smoothly and competitively. 2/17

Thread: For our family business, there's no doubt #Brexit will have an impact - the question is how bad it will be. Meanwhile, the chaos surrounding Brexit leaves us in limbo, unable to continue the expansion which has helped us create jobs and aid other firms. @fascinatorfun 1. We sell cosmetic supplies and ingredients to home users and other SMEs - 66% of our sales are to customers in the EU. We rely on frictionless trade to get goods to these customers cheaply and quickly.
