(1/11) In #India, there are tens of thousands of “dead” people right now, many who have been fighting for decades for their right to be, well… alive. I met some of them this month, & on Friday published a story about their ongoing plight. Here’s a short 🧵explaining more… (2/11) Lal Bihari isn’t proud of his behaviour as a dead man. He spent 18 years bribing cops, illegally tried to extract his wife's widow pension, “kidnapped” his nephew, & ran in local elections against two (living) former prime ministers.
