1/ long thread & worth reading. Sharing this from a sister nurse. #GetVaccinated Quotes from the COVID-ICU over the last 72 hours. All 20 COVID patients currently in our ICUs are unvaccinated. 17/20 are on life support & these numbers change daily based upon deaths/transfers/ 2/ admissions.

“He got COVID from our 13 yr old son who now thinks he caused his father’s death.” - the wife of a 42 year old. “We weren’t against the vaccine. We just never thought this would be us.” - the husband of a 52-year-old.

1/ Over the weekend Animal Nation received a call about a group of pigeons who were found at a cemetery after being released at a funeral. The cemetery workers were able to collect them and we took them in. It’s no surprise to us that these birds didn’t make it far after being 2/ released. Domestic doves and pigeons who are bred for memorial services or celebratory events lack the skills and ability to survive in the wild. They are also always found lethargic, frail, starving, & too exhausted to fly. But what was a shock to us was that one of them was

In 2005 a fisherman who was fishing east of the Farallon Islands (just outside of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California) spotted a whale who was fully entangled and bound in a fishing net. The fisherman radioed for help Image 2/and within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that the whale was so badly tangled that the only way to save her was to dive in, cut the ropes and untangle her…. a very dangerous proposition as one slap of the tail could kill a rescuer. They worked for hours

1/ A feel good thread that’s sure to make you smile. ❤️. Every morning in Frankfurt, Germany, you might catch a glimpse of Jenny, a horse who goes on a long walk every morning, all by herself. She has been taking the same route every morning for 14 years, ever since her owner, 2/ now 79 years old, became unable to ride. She enjoys greeting all of the familiar faces along the way, and she stops and gets treats and pettings from some of her favorite humans. The locals treat her like a celebrity and happily clean up after her. A piece of paper is attached

@other98 1/ LONG THREAD “We wanted to help people
We were smart and driven
We loved science and physiology, humans and disease
So we made a commitment
We signed up
It was an honor

We read thousands of pages
Attended hundreds of lectures
Pulled all-nighters
Took more exams than 2/ we thought possible
Finals week felt insurmountable
But it didn’t break us
It made us stronger

We learned statistics and biochemistry
Immunology & pathophysiology
We mastered genetics, virology and pharmacology
We read scientific papers and learned how to dissect them
Papers,

1/ From FBI website:”It is significant that we take an oath to support & defend the Constitution & not an individual leader, ruler, office, or entity. This is true for the simple reason that the Constitution is based on lasting principles of sound government that provide balance, 2/ stability, and consistency through time. A government based on individuals — who are inconsistent, fallible, and often prone to error — too easily leads to tyranny on the one extreme or anarchy on the other. The founding fathers sought to avoid these extremes and create a
