Some good news: Pertsev will be released from pre-trial arrest next week. His home will be equipped with spywhere (but the police already has his private keys anyway..) and he can travel anywhere in the country (they didn't mention the caribians). At least until the next hearing. As before the judge didn't really explain why.

The language barrier reached ultimate clown show levels today. To the point the judge allowed him to make his plea in English.

Next time they will have both a Russian and English translator.

The outcome was not surprising sadly, but it was nevertheless an interesting (two hour) hearing. It's the first time the public prosecutor explained their reasoning.

But ultimately this wasn't about the merits of the case, only about whether to extend his detention. Politically, this may be the most import crypto court case in The Netherlands (and will set EU precedent). This is of little comfort for Alexy and his wife, because the case will have to be fought on it merits. That can't happen until the police is done with their investigation.

Also a reminder why the politically correct “crypto” is best replaced with “bitcoin and shitscoins”. Stablecoins are a tricky beast. In order to be censorship resistent they can't be operated by mega a reputable company

One lesson is that the US as a nation should never be taken seriously with regards to international treaties (by design). You should only negotiate with individual states. Sure, it's a bit more work, but it just means you go from 200 to 250 "countries".

Not sure to which degree US states can commit to military treaties though, may have to wait until after their civil war (2040?)

De staatssecretaris heeft toegezegd een aantal "microberekeningen" te doen om het nieuwe box 3 stelsel beter in kaart te brengen. Misschien kan VBNL samen met een fiscalist voor een steekproef van klanten een fictieve aangifte in elkaar zetten onder de nieuwe regels? Vooralsnog lijkt Van Rij namelijk vooral met de dinosaurus ketenpartners te communiceren (banken) en geen benul te hebben van wat voor databrandslang op de fiscus af gaat komen als „crypto” niet voor de invoering van dat nieuwe stelsel ter ziele is.

Nu hoor ik zowel D66 als SP pleiten om gehaast een slecht #box3 systeem in te voeren i.p.v. serieus alle opties te verkennen. Dit is hoe de Tweede Kamer hun eigen parlementaire enquêtes regelt. Tot nog lijkt het dat alleen Idsinga (VVD) zich inhoudelijk in dit onderwerp verdiept heeft en de rest eigenlijk alleen maar politiek en op hoofdlijnen. De drie voorbeelden die hij noemt, zijn gewoon terecht en zouden algemene kennis moeten zijn bij de commisieleden.

Super makkelijk dat nieuwe Box 3 stelsel. Hopelijk heeft @daurdraug morgen genoeg doenvermogen om de laatste fouten eruit te halen. De rest van Nederland zal het vast feilloos doen. Nieuwe poging, nu klopt ie volgens mij wel (maar ik ben geen fiscalist, dus...).

In nieuwe stelsel zou iemand die met €100 in 2009 Bitcoin kocht in de loop der jaren 85% moeten verkopen om belasting te kunnen betalen. Op zich nog steeds leuk zakcentje.

Woensdag gaat 2e Kamer weer vergaderen over lange termijn van Box 3. In de agenda staan wat nieuwe antwoorden op kamervragen. Ik word er niet meteen optimistisch van. Staatssecretaris Van Rij is nog steeds te optimistisch over #vermogensaanwasbelasting.
