Lightning Network Channel Management is tricky and requires some amount of work and time. I've tried to simplify the math a bit to help understand the topic better. A thread on payments routing, fee & channel management, rebalancing & profitability math follows. 1/n] Let's assume for this example I am running a LN node and have two open channels right now. First, i opened a 2M sat channel with @PrestonPysh and then very graciously i may add, @gladstein decided to open a 2M sat channel to me. We refer to this as state-0: natural state.

As we're inching closer to the previous ATH, let's revisit a good old story about supply & demand told by many before about world's most free & open commodity market - bitcoin. Time for another thread, written together with @btcTina. Let's dive in. 1/n] Bitcoin has recovered from a long consolidation going all the way down to 29k. It took us several months to get back to above 60k and back to ATH or almost. Journey was filled with several dips & breakouts along the way. Now that we're here, time to see what's coming next?

I've now routed close to 3M sats over last 2 weeks or so, when most of the time i was busy opening channels and setting my node up. Gotten 1000 sats in fees, not much but honest work. All this while i've been travelling and am now accessing my node remotely from across the world. Image If you've still not set your node up, give it a try. Never been easier with this thread i wrote a while back. Been getting a lot of DMs from people saying how easy this was. You'll thank yourself in a few months. These 1M sat channels will be huge soon.

Oh boy, this is the best. Hilarious and absolute shambles. Cuban is going down heavy.

#Bitcoin twitter.com/i/spaces/1jMJg… Cuban mentioned bitcoin is struggling against cardano and polygon 🤡🤣

My dad has been the hardest working person i know of, he spent his whole life helping others around him and sacrificed a lot for me to be where I am today. I helped him understand history of money & bitcoin last April and he got it fairly quickly. Why? Because of life experiences. He's 55, lived all his life in a small town in India, built businesses, dealt with banks, government officials, lawyers, understands economics, value of gold, savings & more importantly value of human freedom. The things we take for granted here.

I'm feeling inspired today, so here goes a new thread (part-1) on 'Bitcoin & Nuclear - Future of Energy Grid'. I breakdown the narratives around bitcoin's energy usage, cover some facts and offer some of my personal opinions along the way. Let's dive in Before i begin, I want to provide my own little background since its relevant to the topic today. I'm a Chemical Engineer by degree & have been working as a lead engineer in advanced nuclear technology space for the last few years, so this topic feels like home. Let's get in.

Okay freaks, its been almost a week since I got my LN node running, 4 days since I got the channels started and 2 days since I started routing payments. Learnt a few things along the way which can be helpful to beginners just starting out, like myself. So.. you got it, A thread. 1/n] Treat running a LN node for payments routing as a proper business. Get an alias to build a brand around it. Jot down your capital cost upfront, this would mostly be your node hardware cost plus marginal internet/electricity cost if at all.

Four days into running my LN node and I've started to route payments already, getting some payment flow now. Total routed payments - 13 | Total fees collected - 132 sats. Tomorrow i add more liquidity to my node and add new channels, anyone freak wants to open a swap with me? I've routed >800k sats so far in 4 days, thats roughly 10% of my node capacity right now. I've kept fee rate low so far to test it out and get some payment flow. Remember when in my last thread i said, some nodes must be routing much more than their node capacity every month?

1/n] Lightning Network is gaining attention. You may want to keep a close eye on its growth & some KPIs to track over the next few years. LN is on track to serve as the payment rails on top of bitcoin as the settlement layer for the whole world by end of 2030. A thread follows. 2/n] Let's start from the very basic - What does LN offer? Instant, global, borderless, frictionless, permissionless, near zero fee transactions, the likes of which the world has never seen before. Think about sending money from US to Japan. How would you do it instantly and free

1/n] Lightning network (LN) is a layer 2 solution for payments/transaction scaling on top of bitcoin which serves as the base layer of settlement. Thread below on how to setup your own LN node and start routing payments (for beginners, no experience required, follow step by step) 2/n] Start with getting yourself a full node setup. There are many ways of doing this, the simplest one i recommend is via umbrel.com. I built my own node on a raspberry pi-4 a little before they came up with an umbrel server option which is simply plug & play.
