#bcpoli RCH is a "disaster," according to a source but SMH is even worse. RCH ICU is now overflowing with Covid-19 patients and some are being shifted to High Acuity Unit, HAU. Clean non-covid patients being moved out to other locations. Another ICU intensivist called in. 1/4 Some other patients being moved to 5 North. Unable to ship patients out because hospitals in nearby regions are overflowing.
At St.Paul's the situation is getting worse by the day. 26 total Covid patients, 6 in ICU; of those, three are on vents. 2/4

#bcpoli Because Ontario is hub for media, we are hearing much more about terrible situation there.
We are in same situation in BC. Our hospitals are a disaster. RCH, LGH, VGH, Surrey Memorial are a mess. Doctors and nurses tell me it's getting horrible in ER, ICU and corridors. Ontario has stopped deception on ICU numbers unlike BC. Many more after-covid patients in our hospitals than numbers you're seeing in BC. Conditions in some hospitals here? People peeing sitting in chairs. Corridors with patients. Severe staff shortages. Many in ICU on vents.

#bcpoli When there's a new virus there's going to be a huge variation in science. Dr. Henry was lead public health officer for Toronto for Sars-CoV 1 in 2003. There was a disaster in Toronto not duplicated in BC. The Sars Commission report blasted Ontario health agencies. 1/9 Justice Archie Campbell's Sars Commission stated: "One example was the debate during SARS over whether SARS was transmitted by large droplets or through airborne particles. The point is not who was right and who was wrong in this debate." 2/9
