Tonight I spoke on the floor of the Senate where I encouraged the administration to do five things to make a difference in Ukraine.
1st on the military side, we must redouble our efforts with urgency to provide Ukraine with the equipment and munitions and, where necessary, the immediate training, to improve their air defenses and give them better offensive air capabilities.

Prior to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we made significant progress in combating the opioid epidemic, thanks in part to the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) legislation I authored in 2016
Programs in this law will now receive even more support for this year (FY 2022)– a 21% increase over FY 2021 levels. This will help us redouble our efforts to combat the record overdose deaths during the pandemic through more effective prevention, treatment and recovery.

Last week, I introduced the landmark Strengthening American Cybersecurity Act to give the @ONCDpress, @CISAgov & others broad visibility into the cyberattacks taking place across our nation on a daily basis. bit.ly/3LlzuNy

Yesterday morning we learned that we are in the midst of the worst inflation crisis in 40 years. To understand why this situation is so devastating it is critical to dig a little deeper into the data:
What was most concerning about this inflation report was the breadth of the price increases. It is not just ‘used cars,’ rather we are seeing the cost of essentials - like gas & groceries - skyrocket. In fact, food costs are up 7.4% and gas prices have soared 40% over the past yr

The bipartisan legislation the Senate is considering is a historic investment in our nation’s core infrastructure needs – including roads and bridges, rail, transit, ports, airports, the electric grid, broadband, and much more.
This investment is being made without new tax hikes on working families and employers large and small, despite the Democrats’ announced plans for more tax hikes.

I have long believed in and advocated for investing more in our nation’s infrastructure, including modernizing our roads, bridges, transit, ports and more. But we should focus on our core infrastructure needs to help grow our economy.
President Biden’s massive $2.7 trillion “infrastructure” plan is filled with broad policy priorities that are a far cry from what has ever been defined as infrastructure, by either Democrats or Republicans.

This morning, @SenatorCarper & I released a report on how Chinese state-owned telecoms companies have operated in the US w/ a stunning lack of US gov't oversight.
This is the culmination of a yr long Senate Permanent Subcmte on Investigations probe. Here are the key takeaways:
1. Multiple Chinese state-owned telecom companies have been operating in the US for roughly 2 decades w little to no gov’t oversight.
This lack of scrutiny undermined the safety of American communications and seriously endangered U.S. national security...So, how did this happen?
