If you have EVER wondered why the TN people have been so desperate to keep the #Mullaperiyar dam level at 142, here is the reason why. Vaigai dam's only way to fill up is through the 2300 cusecs of water it receives from MP dam.. It's filled to 69 out of 72 feet now! #Vaigai (1) #Mullaperiyar water which just augments Periyar river in Kerala side, actually helps 5 big districts in TN side when it's allowed to fill the #VaigaiDam like it's done this year. Vaigai dam gets filled once in a decade, as a matter of fact without MP, it stands no chance (2)
